We're Here To Help
First STEPS Preschool Services
Assessment and Support Services for Young Children
First STEPS is a comprehensive JFS service tailored to meet the needs of young children up to age five, their families, teachers and the community.
Supporting Children’s Developmental Needs
For parents and preschool-age children, First STEPS offers classroom-based observations, one-on-one parent coaching and workshops and support groups on critical subjects.
Our specialized clinical social work staff is available to observe a child at the request of a teacher or a parent and to develop a plan through a team approach. Targeted services for preschool children with special needs are also offered through First STEPS.
Providing Teacher Training
For teachers and schools, First STEPS offers customized consultations and teacher trainings. First STEPS is a participating provider of the early childhood consortium sponsored by the Partnership for Jewish Learning and Life.
For the MetroWest community, First STEPS holds a variety of workshops and groups throughout the year. First STEPS also participates in National Children’s Mental Health Day.
Moms and Babies Groups
To provide additional information and support to families in the community, Jewish Family Service offers mom and baby support groups at our office, at the JCC MetroWest, and at synagogues in the community.
All JFS services are offered on a non-discriminatory basis. JFS of MetroWest NJ is licensed by the State of New Jersey as a provider of outpatient mental health counseling services. We have managed care contracts with most insurance companies. Insurance plan benefits vary, and our intake specialist can help you to determine your level of insurance coverage. JFS accepts Medicare and Medicaid plans. Clients can self-pay for services, and we offer a subsidized sliding scale for those requiring financial assistance.
