Kosher Meals on Wheels: Hudson County
Serving Older Adults with Healthy, Kosher Meals at Home
If you are homebound and in need of a kosher meal but are unable to obtain it — we are here with Kosher Meals on Wheels.
Kosher Meals on Wheels (KMOW) provides nutritious meals and social work support to frail older adults residing in Bayonne, Jersey City, and Hoboken. Each meal meets the nutritional requirements of the Older Americans Act, Title III Guidelines, and five frozen meals are delivered once per week.
To be eligible for KMOW, you must be over 60 years old, in need of Kosher food, homebound or incapacitated, unable to prepare food and lacking support. A social worker assesses each older adult for eligibility and other community resources as needed. Trained delivery staff monitors changes in participants and weekly contact offers reduced isolation. KMOW was established to holistically address the needs of frail older adults by providing balanced nutrition and maintained independence.
KMOW is sponsored by Jewish Family Service of MetroWest with generous funding from the UJA Campaigns of Jersey City, Bayonne and Hoboken, the Violet Zall-Hordes Foundation, the City of Bayonne CDBG, and the Hudson County Office on Aging. The suggested donation is $2 per meal.
Kosher meals are also provided at our congregate nutrition site at the Temple Emanu-El in Bayonne, the Chai Café.
