Create a Jewish Legacy

After providing for your family and loved ones, you may want to remember Jewish Family Service of MetroWest NJ in your plans.  A bequest, annuity, or trust will help to assure the long-term future of the work of the Agency.  If you are interested in leaving a legacy to JFS, please contact us at 973-765-9050.  We’d also love to hear from you if you have already included JFS in your plans.

Create a Jewish Legacy is a two-year partnership program of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation and the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater MetroWest NJ which assists communities across North America in promoting legacy giving to benefit local Jewish organizations. Jewish Family Service of MetroWest was one of many agencies and synagogues to apply and has been selected to participate! Every day, JFS of MetroWest responds to those in need in our community. Every year, we help more than 3,500 people. We serve as the 9-1-1 for our local Jewish community; ensuring a prompt, professional and comprehensive response for those who may be struggling with a personal conflict as well as for those who find themselves in crisis, with nowhere else to turn. Since 1861, JFS of MetroWest has been there for the hungry, the lonely, the frightened, and all in need. We began as the Hebrew Benevolent Society in Newark, New Jersey, providing safe housing for Jewish orphans who found themselves alone during the U.S. Civil War. Today, all of our services are provided on a non-sectarian basis. Today, we continue to mend fraying lives, helping our community’s families to meet daily challenges and providing people with personalized plans for safety, companionship, mental health counseling and advocacy. We help families meet the needs of their aging parents. We help children and teens who struggle with a wide range of developmental and emotional challenges. We keep the lights turned on and we keep food on the table. We are there for the people of our community when it seems that there is nowhere else to turn. JFS of MetroWest provides a safety net for:

    • Individuals: providing outpatient mental health counseling services facilitated by highly trained therapists who use state of the art, evidence-based modalities tailored to individual needs.
    • Families: providing a full menu of services, including emergency financial assistance, advocacy, and guidance toward the development of personal plans for stability and independence.
    • Community Institutions: providing timely, highly accessible mental health services by placing JFS clinical social work staff on-site at MetroWest sister Jewish agencies and synagogues.

Everything we do is designed to provide the people we serve with renewed strength and independence, helping them to heal and to thrive. Our Legacy Donors are a group of individuals just like you who want to ensure that people and families who are struggling will always have a place to receive the support they need to live with dignity and security.
