Child & Adolescent

The JFS Child and Adolescent Service division consists of dedicated clinical staff who provide a range of services to children, adolescents and families coping with challenges that arise throughout the cycle of growth and development. JFS is committed to providing services that enable each child to feel loved, cared for and valued by the community.

Services include:

  • Individual, group and family consultation and clinical counseling.
  • Ruth Sagner Center for Play Therapy
  • Information and Referral.
  •  Parenting workshops, discussion groups and professional training seminars.
  • Community forums on topics related to children and adolescent mental health issues.
  • Consultation services to community agencies, schools, etc.
  • Crisis intervention services

The State of New Jersey offers NJ Parent Link, a comprehensive website with information and resources for parents on topics such as health and wellness, developmental and behavioral health, parenting and early education, child care and preschool, and family support services. In 2010,JFS received a grant from the Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey to create First STEPS, a package of services tailored to meet the needs of young children up to age five, their families, teachers and communities. First STEPS also receives generous funding support from the Jewish Community Foundation of MetroWest NJ.

SAMHSA Children's Day 2011  On May 3 2011, JFS joined other organizations from across the US for National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day. This year's event focused on building resiliance in young children dealing with trauma and JFS marked the occasion by partnering with the Partnership for Jewish Learning and Life and the PJ Library initiative to brings books to young children about feelings and trauma.
