Improving Our Community
Hebrew Free Loan of NJ
Providing Financial Support to
Those in Need
Hebrew Free Loan of New Jersey has been serving those in financial need in the MetroWest community since 1996 with small loans for a variety of needs.
Hebrew Free Loan of NJ helps those residing in the areas covered by the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest New Jersey (covering Essex, Morris, Union and parts of Somerset Counties) and the Jewish Federation of Monmouth County.
Loans are provided for many purposes, except for student loans. Loan amounts vary, depending on the community, but can range from $500 to $5,000 for personal loans.
Examples of typical loans are:
- Medical Expenses
- Debt Consolidation
- Home Improvement or Repair
- Adoption Costs
- Starting or Expanding a Business
Borrowers must have the potential to repay the loan and need to provide post dated checks in the full amount. Each loan must have at least one cosigner (two for home improvement and business loans), and the cosigner must live in New Jersey. The cosigner becomes responsible for the loan repayment in the event the borrower cannot meet his/her obligation.
Hebrew Free Loan of New Jersey holds to the highest standard of confidentiality. The loan is not a public record, but there are rare instances where a legal process may be used to recover unpaid balances.
